Sep 29- 7th

We continued working on cell brochure presentations. If classes finished, they played a cell parts review game on kahoot.


Sept 28 - 8th grade

Students took their tests on Changes of State. Upon completion, they read about sublimation and deposition.

Sept 28 - 8th grade

We had a discussion about page 21 in the interactive notebook and filled in the brain work chart.

We then worked together to fill in the chart on page 22.

Test is tomorrow over notebook page 12-21.

Sept 27 - 8th

Students had discussion about melting.

Students did an activity about ice melting.

Note book page 20 was discussed.

Some work was done on page 21.

Test friday on pages 12-21

Sept 27 - 7th

Students discussed expectations for before class and during a guest speaker.

Students then began presenting their brochures. Classes were good audience members as classmates shared.

Sept 25 - 7th

Students recorded their grades and wrote down that their project is due wednesday.

We began talking about the levels of organization in living things.

We even tried the nearpod app.

Sept 22 - 8th

Students and I had a discussion about why water forms on the ground around my shed in the morning.

We then played Kahoot to finish out our 15 minute class periods.

Sept 22 - 7th grade

Students worked on research for the cell brochure project. Research needs to be completed outside of class time and the finished brochure is due Wednesday, Sept 27.

Sept 21 - 7th grade

Only 1 class met today. They worked on their research and getting work to those who were going to be gone.

Students began by discussing condensation including what it is and some common examples. We then moved to the experiment on condensation.

Students had an assembly this afternoon so our classes were shortened.

Students worked on an assignment to show that they can identify variables.

Then we began talking about the brochure project. We will discuss this more tomorrow.

Sept 14 - 7th

Students received their lab rubrics back. Groups discussed answers to the homework assignment. We then discussed the answers as a class.

We then discussed correct answers to the notes sheet from yesterday. Students had the chance to correct their notes.

Worksheet due as homework tomorrow.

Sept 14 - 8th grade

We had a class discussion on the question from the Recap assignment, review work, and brain work from page 13. It was a good discussion where the kids showed some good thinking.

Homework was the conduction worksheet (due Friday) and to read the activity for tomorrow and double underline the action verbs from each step.

Sept 13 -7th grade

Students learned the truth about the Giant Australian Water Mite...

We then went over vocab for page 10.

Students then worked to complete their foldable. The outside should have these headings:
The inside should have these phrases in the correct order. They are out of order in the list.


Sept 13 - 8th grade

Students received their test back and we went over correct answers.

We discussed page 12 and made sure correct notes were taken.

Students then worked on page 13 review and brain work questions. These should be completed for homework tonight (except for 2nd hour).

Sept 12 - 7th grade

Students checked their grades.

Students viewed my Giant African Water Mites and then discussed what organisms need to do to be considered living.

We put together a foldable and began filling it out.

Sept 12 - 8th grade

Students chose to redo the lab from yesterday as a demonstration due to their errors yesterday. Homework was to: 1) define two vocab terms 2) finish page 76-77 3) answer a question on recap. Should take them about 15 minutes total.

Sept 7- 7th grade

Students began working in groups on their golf ball drop lab. There will be more time to work tomorrow.

Sept 7 - 8th grade

Students were put into seating charts.

We worked together to answer the challenge question from the board work when we walked in.

We discussed correct answers to page 11 that was an assignment yesterday.

Finished class by playing kahoot to review for the test tomorrow.

This is my homeroom playing again...at their request.

This is the score part way through period 2...and I ended up winning at the end also. CHAMPION!

Sept 6 - 7th

Students finished discussion and practice on data analysis (link to presentation)

We discussed how rubrics will be used to grade lab write ups.

Students got a quick preview of the golf ball lab for tomorrow.

Sept 6 - 8th

We had a class discussion about page 8 and made sure it was filled in correctly.
Students then worked on Review and Brain questions from page 11.

Some students took the time to work on some challenge questions.

Sept 5- 7th

Students completed their tests on the meter stick drop. Homework was to find the mean for the boys and girls.


Sep 5 - 8th

Students checked their grades and put page 8 into their notebook.

We then discussed whether or not air is matter (it is) and how we can tell (it has mass and takes up space).

Students viewed a simulation of the molecules of air in a balloon.

We then did a demo of air molecules changing speed depending on temperature.


Test this friday over pages 2 - 11 in student notebooks.
