Dec 18th - 7th grade

Students continued working on their cell cycle assignments. We even had our first person score a prefect on the unit test! Way to go...

Dec 18- 8th grade

Students had their last day of research today. Computer lab tomorrow.

Dec 15th - 7th grade

We watched the Amoeba Sisters video on cell division. Students answered questions during the video and then we went over them as a class.

Students continued working on their cell cycle activities.

Dec 15th - 7th grade

Students continued working on their Week of Wonder. We discussed making sure that they have a works cited.

I walked around and asked a question to each student about their topic. The information they were able to share was very interesting.

Dec 14th - 7th

We went over a strategy for answering extended response questions:
Students then continued to work on their cell cycle choice assessments.

Dec 14th- 8th

More work on our Week of Wonder. We discussed the idea of struggling to learn the hard stuff about each topic.

Here is a link to some simulations/games that can be used to help understand the process of the cell cycle more thoroughly.

Many students worked on the Order of the Cell Cycle quiz today with very good results. Others continued to work on other assignments.

Dec 13th - 8th grade

Students continued to work on their Week of Wonder project. Many students are having me check their journal entries. Information seems to be gathered at a good rate.

Dec 12th - 7th grade

Students began working on their Cell Cycle Assessments.

Students need to earn 20 points by friday and 60 points by next wednesday.

Dec 12th - 8th grade

Dec 11th - 7th grade

Students had a few minutes to work on their mitosis steps predictions. We agreed that most groups had no idea how the steps progressed.

We then worked on a KWL to identify what we did know:

We then discussed what the students will have to know about the steps of the cell cycle and mitosis. We will cover these before winter break.

Students began working on the foldable about the steps of the cell cycle.

In planner pages:

Dec 11 - 8th grade

Students worked on their plans, 4 square, and rock cycle diagrams. If students got their plans approved they were able to work on research for their Week Of Wonder projects.

Friday, December 8, 2017

Dec 8 - 7th grade

Students worked on identifying the 3 main reasons why cell division is important.

We then began working to try and piece together the steps of mitosis.

Dec 8 - 8th grade

Students worked on their Week of Wonder materials. I graded brackets and Rock Cycle diagrams.

Thursday, December 7, 2017

Dec 7 - 7th grade

Students took a test on Cell Processes.

Students then worked on a reading about cell division and worked on the Functions of Cell Division reading guide.

Dec 7th - 8th grade

Students continued to work on their passion. Some began working on the 4 square.

Dec 6th - 7th grade

We went over answers to last night's transport chart.

Students then worked on the following for review for tomorrow's test:

Cell Processes Matching Activity
Cell Transport Cut and Paste
Where do I belong? This one is the most helpful review for those who were absent.

Dec 6th - 8th grade

Students began working on their "passion bracket challenge". This is used to see where students are most excited to learn about. This needs to be completed by Friday along with their Rock Cycle Diagram.

Dec 5th - 7th grade

We finished our "doodle notes" on transportation.

Students then checked answers to the fill in the blank notes.

Students finished by completing the cell transport chart.

TEST THURSDAY ON NOTEBOOK PAGES 28 - 44 (including other handouts/assignments).

Dec 5th- 8th grade

Students worked on their labs/rock cycle diagrams for 10 minutes.

Students were then introduced to the WEEK OF WONDER project. This is our take on "genius hour" from the google corporation. Students will begin working on planning their own learning for next week.

Lab is due tomorrow and rock cycle diagram is due Friday.

Dec 4 - 7th grade

Students wrote down grades and wrote the test in their planner pages. The test will be this Thursday on pages 28 until the end.

We then worked on notes to understand concentration better.

Dec 4 - 8th grade

Students worked on their lab write ups from the Rock ID lab. This is due Wednesday.

Students were also assigned their Rock Cycle assignment due Friday.
